This podcast pilot was developed in collaboration with Fiona McEwan, Lecturer in Education & Society at the University of Sunderland. Using the UNESCO's 17 Sustainable Development Goals as a conversational vehicle, we tooled and produced this pilot together to investigate the embedding of podcasting as a teaching and assessment framework for students of Education & Society.
IN BED WITH EMBEDDING
PILOT - SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Our IFY Teaching & Society students recording 'In Bed with Embedding' with Andrea Brown

Are you finding it hard to understand aspects of your education role, and struggling to embed some of the more abstract ideas and concepts that we, as teachers, are required to include in our curriculum? Well, this is the podcast for you.
The IFY Education students at the University of Sunderland will demystify 'embedding', one concept at a time. They will get "under the covers" with the nitty gritty side of being in the classroom.
Today, our students are going to discuss the challenges of embedding the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, and how they as aspiring educators can get the job done.
Sustainable development in education allows every human being to acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values necessary to develop a sustainable future. Integrating sustainable development benefits students and society, to promote social equity, and encourages economic wellbeing.
Our guest today, who will develop our students' knowledge of embedding education for sustainable development, is Andrea Brown: Senior Lecturer at the School of Education, at the University of Sunderland.
Andrea has enjoyed a varied career, having worked in marketing, operations, and training, before education. Andrea has taught internationally, as well as across the 3rd sector, further education, and higher education in the UK. Such diverse experience is invaluable for her students, as it brings to life the reality of working as an educator. She is passionate about embedding sustainable education in her own teaching and learning, and is now championing this across the Faculty of Education and Society at the University of Sunderland.
